Although Summer Storm’s name may conjure images of dark brooding skies, her disposition is as bright and cheerful as any you’ll encounter. She looks younger than most community college students, and she is. If Summer hadn’t graduated high school at the end of her junior year, she would currently be a senior. “This is my gap year,” she explains.

Summer is considering majoring in fashion in college, possibly pursuing a fashion career eventually. She has already been accepted to the California College of the Arts in Oakland and will probably attend in the fall. In the meantime she is getting some basic sewing skills under her belt here at Cañada College.

Summer’s other interests include painting on silk, Realist drawing, henna painting and digital art. She can imagine combining one or more of these talents some day with her fashion work. “I could do my silk painting on clothes,” she realizes. Summer’s artistic work so far is impressive for anyone, let alone a person as young as herself. Here are some examples:
