The Fashion Department of Cañada College in collaboration with the American Institute for Foreign Study will present a class in Florence, Italy this summer. During the two-weeks June 11-June 25, students will complete a 2.5 unit course on Italian Fashion. The fashion industry will be analyzed from pre-World War II to the present day with an understanding of how Italian designers, fabrics, and manufacturing techniques have had global implications. A history study will include field trips to textile centers and fashion museums. Students are especially excited that they will be attending fashion week during the time they are in Florence. Professor Ronda Chaney will lead the group of twenty women in this exciting educational tour.
For those of you remaining stateside, we wanted to share some books and videos you might want to enjoy for a local escape to Italian fashion. For your convenience, the resources are linked to their availability in the Peninsula Library System.
