There two main methods of pattern making: draping and flat pattern. Draping takes material and places it on a dress form in a three dimensional way. It is then marked and removed to make a pattern. Flat pattern uses two dimensional paper and creates patterns that way, that are then sewn into a three dimensional garment.

Each are beautiful in their method. Which one do you prefer? While we aren’t offering Draping this semester, we cannot wait to see our student’s creations from the Flat Pattern and Advanced Flat Pattern courses.
