Lenore Espanola has been a student in our program for a few years now. She has a background in marketing and works in that field and consulting during the day, so she enjoys our variety of night, weekend, and short-term classes.

She is one class away from our Merchandising certificate and also working towards our Custom Dressmaking/Small Business certificate.

Lenore has found that each class has opened her eyes to new business opportunities. A lot of the courses require projects to evolve through a business scenario. For example, Lenore created a line of travel jackets in Principles of Design and the Entrepreneurship class that she actually turned into a line and sold. She also worked through the concept of men’s wear in a Merchandising Class. Lenore credits the diversity of students, instructors, and experiences brought to each class she has taken as a significant strength to the Cañada Fashion Department.

In addition, Lenore has been a part of Artistry in Fashion our annual fundraising fashion and shopping event for several years. She started with a student booth and continues to share her upcycled purses from the Lenore Collection. Her handbags and purses are created in her native Philippines and imported for sale in the US. This side business has enabled Lenore to stay connected with family and heritage in the Philippines.

Lenore hopes her next adventures lead her to a business that merges fashion and technology. She feels that her strengths are in understanding customers and trends. She credits her coursework to helping her better understand fit. She hopes to create an endeavor that promotes women feeling comfortable, confident, and beautiful in clothing and how it relates to the body.

We wish Lenore the best of luck!
