This is a multi-part series about our Merchandising Program at Cañada College.
Did you know Cañada College offers a Merchandising certificate? This semester we are offering three of the Merchandising classes required for the certificate : Principles of Design, Fashion Merchandising, and Fashion Show Production.
Principles of Design teaches the principles, elements, and color and how they relate to good (or bad) design. You don’t have to be an artist to take this class, but you get plenty of opportunities to present designs.
The Fashion Merchandising class teaches students the steps along the process of selling fashion products. It doesn’t matter if you want to be a designer or a buyer or work in the retail area; it is always helpful to know how the entire process works. If you don’t know which area of the fashion industry suits you best, the Fashion Merchandising class will help you figure it out.
The Fashion Show Production class is working hard on preparing for our Spring Fashion show. This year’s production is called Tongue in Chic and will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 7:00pm. The show will feature student models and student garments made during the past year. It is not to be missed! You can follow them on Instagram @tongueinchic2013.
Other classes required for the Merchandising certificate include: Apparel Analysis, Visual Merchandising and Display, and Business Mathematics.
